About David Rabalais

David Rabalais Filmmaker Writer Director

Hi, I’m David Rabalais — a filmmaker, writer, and director from South Louisiana. I explore Southern horror through strange folklore and dry humor, always grounded in a serious tone for dramatic contrast.

My background includes over 20 years in commercial video production, beginning with local broadcast at KLFY and eventually launching my own company, Rabalais Creative. Over the years, I’ve worked with clients ranging from industrial manufacturers to major brands across the country.

I studied Music Media at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, which helped shape my approach to storytelling, sound, and visual production.

I’m a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran — a background that shaped my work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to getting the job done right.

I also served as Director of Photography and Editor for the feature documentary Finding Cajun, created with my brother, Nathan Rabalais. It occasionally airs on LPB and is currently streaming on Amazon.

But my passion has always been narrative storytelling — especially Southern horror rooted in folklore and subtle cultural satire — where absurd plots are delivered with total seriousness.

My debut narrative feature film, The Fois, is currently in production. It’s a Cajun horror-comedy about a haunted gumbo recipe, family secrets, and the kind of curse that hits you right in the gut.

If you're into indie horror with a Southern voice and a little edge — stick around. There’s more on the way.
